Before that I knew I wanted to do music professionally but I didn't really know what the path was to that. But as far as pursuing it for real as a profession do you think that was the moment? One of my favorite stories was how you took a road trip to be on Lauryn Hill's "Everything Is Everything." And that moment was when you realized this was when you could do music professionally. It brings me right back there and it was so incredible to hear where these stories were born from your life. Sage Bava: Your music has certainly been the soundtrack to my life in different albums in different stages. And so I'm not gonna do a proper tour this year but I'll do that show that you saw again a few more times throughout the year. We have baby, all kinds of reasons to be home a bit more. And since it's just me I don't need to concentrate it to get scale with the band and all the production and all that stuff. We will do that show again in different places and they'll be more spread out. Legend: No, we're not planning to tour this year. And as of now I see no extensive tour planned, so you are keeping yourself more mysterious in 2023. And then she, unlike me, knows how to keep herself scarce so that people are very excited when she comes back.īaltin: You mentioned the scarcity. She's beautiful, special, mysterious, has a distinctive voice and look. So I love that you did "Dancing In The Dark." And also I'm obsessed with Sade, who is everything that a pop star should be. My favorite solo artist of all time is Bruce Springsteen. I wouldn't change a thing about it.īaltin: You also had some fun with pop stuff at the show last week. It's rousing, infectious and sounds perfect now. "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" has got to be right up there. My favorite solo artist of all time is Stevie Wonder. And the thing is it's also how you define pop I guess. That's one of the great pop songs of all time in my mind. It's just beautifully executed, production's amazing, the lyric is great, it's got energy, edge, angst and an irrepressible hook. Legend: One from the last 10 to 15 years that I always hear and think I wish I wrote that song is "Crazy," by Gnarls Barkley. And performing that in front of some of the Beach Boys was pretty amazing.īaltin: Give me one or two of your other choices for greatest pop songs of all time that are in the running with that one. ![]() But it's certainly one of the greatest, no doubt about that. It's an arguable question whether or not it's the greatest pop song of all time. And then the opportunity to do that particular song which obviously is so special. I'd wanted to do something with her for a long time.
